In a recent op-ed for the Washington Examiner, Senator Rick Scott expressed his support for Pete Hegseth as the nominee for Secretary of Defense. He emphasized the importance of confirming President Trump's nominees swiftly to enhance national security.

Senator Scott wrote, "President-elect Donald Trump chose Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense because he’s a combat veteran and change agent who isn’t afraid to take on the vital job of rebuilding the U.S. military from woke to lethal. He is the right person for the job, and I fully support him as our next secretary of defense."

Scott criticized what he described as a focus on diversity quotas and bureaucracy under the Biden-Harris administration, stating it jeopardized national security. He believes Hegseth's leadership would prioritize America's national interests.

"The status quo in Washington, D.C., has gone unchallenged for too long," Scott continued. He highlighted Hegseth's experience as a decorated combat veteran who understands military responsibilities and decision-making.

After active duty, Hegseth led Concerned Veterans of America, showing commitment to service members beyond his military career. According to Scott, "The policy priorities he championed were ultimately adopted by both Congress and the Trump administration and will benefit veterans for generations to come."

Scott concluded by reaffirming his belief that under Trump's leadership with Hegseth at DoD, "the U.S. military will once again become the world’s most lethal fighting force that our enemies fear and our allies respect."
