Jacksonville has been awarded a $5.8 million grant from the Social Impact Partnerships to Pay for Results Act (SIPPRA) program. This funding aims to enhance early literacy and family health initiatives in the city.

The SIPPRA program is designed to support projects that achieve measurable social outcomes, with federal payments contingent on meeting predefined goals. This approach ensures taxpayer dollars are invested in initiatives that deliver proven results, fostering accountability and meaningful impact.

In Jacksonville, the grant will be used to expand early literacy efforts by incorporating literacy coaching into pediatric healthcare visits. This initiative encourages parents to read with their children from birth, supporting language development and strengthening family bonds.

Additionally, the funding will improve access to nurse home visiting services for new parents in Jacksonville. These visits provide personalized support during the postpartum period, addressing maternal mental health needs and reducing emergency medical visits for newborns.

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan expressed gratitude for the recognition at the national level: “We are grateful that our efforts are being recognized at the national level and that our focus on federal grants continues to bring more of our tax dollars home.” She emphasized that this investment is a testament to Jacksonville's commitment to early childhood success.

Dr. Saralyn Grass, CEO of Kids Hope Alliance, highlighted the importance of this grant: “This grant allows us to expand critical programs that not only support children’s educational growth but also address maternal health and family stability.”

By focusing on early literacy and family health, Jacksonville is making an investment in its future, empowering families and strengthening community ties. The initiative reflects the city's dedication to using evidence-based solutions for improving residents' quality of life.
