Plans for the LaSalle Street drainage improvement project, which involves constructing new pipes and inlets, are moving forward with a projected timeline from 2024 to 2026. These developments will prompt road closures, beginning with partial closures in April followed by full closures in May. The road closure map is attached.
The project aims to alleviate flooding on LaSalle Street, nearby neighborhoods, and the intersection of LaSalle Street and San Marco Boulevard. Key components include the construction of a new pump station and the reconstruction of the outfall to increase stormwater capacity by discharging into the St. Johns River. Additionally, larger inlets and pipes will be installed to improve stormwater drainage efficiency.
Construction will proceed in phases, street by street, to minimize disruption. Temporary removal of roadways and sidewalks may occur, and some trees may be affected. Driveway parking might be unavailable, but access to properties will remain open. Roads under construction will be closed to non-residential traffic.
This work will be confined to the City's right-of-way, with the duration of construction varying by street. Residents will receive notifications in advance, and neighborhood meetings will provide further updates. For more details, visit www.coj.net/lasallestreetdrainagefaq or contact 904.630.CITY (2489).
