During a U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing titled "If I Could Turn Back Time: Should We Lock the Clock?", Senator Rick Scott introduced the bipartisan and bicameral Sunshine Protection Act. This bill aims to end the practice of changing clocks twice a year by making Daylight Saving Time permanent throughout the year.
Senator Scott highlighted the advantages of the proposed change, which he refers to as "Lock The Clock." As the former Governor of Florida, he had already signed legislation to allow Florida to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round, contingent upon federal approval. Now, as a United States Senator, Scott is working to extend this effort nationwide through the Sunshine Protection Act.
