Senator Rick Scott has released his weekly update on efforts to address the United States' debt crisis and rising inflation. Reports from the Bureau of Economic Analysis indicated that the federal government's key inflation indicator, personal consumption expenditure, increased again in November, putting pressure on family and small business budgets.
Earlier this week, Senator Scott led a press conference with Congressman Andy Harris, chair of the House Freedom Caucus, and fellow Republican senators and representatives supporting a two-step reconciliation strategy in the 119th Congress. They emphasized the need for immediate passage of a reconciliation bill focused on transformative America First legislation to secure the border. This would be followed by another bill to prevent Democratic tax increases, extend Trump-era tax cuts, and reduce wasteful government spending through reforms identified by the new Department of Government Efficiency. Senators Mike Lee and Ron Johnson joined Representatives Andy Biggs, Ralph Norman, Clay Higgins, and Scott Perry at this event.
Additionally, Senator Scott and Congressman Harris led 26 colleagues in sending a letter to Senate Majority Leader-elect John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson fully supporting a two-step reconciliation strategy in Congress.
Signatories included Senators Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, Marsha Blackburn, Ted Budd, Roger Marshall, Lindsey Graham; Representatives Chip Roy, Lauren Boebert, Josh Brecheen; Eric Burlison; Michael Cloud; Andrew Clyde; Byron Donalds; Russ Fulcher; Bob Good; Andy Harris M.D.; Clay Higgins; Anna Paulina Luna; Mary Miller; Barry Moore; Ralph Norman; Andy Ogles; Scott Perry; Bill Posey; Tom Tiffany; Anna Paulina-Luna (again); Andy Biggs and Keith Self.
Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly called for action on America's debt crisis and harmful inflation effects.
