U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) recently appeared on Fox and Friends to address several pressing issues, including illegal immigration, transparency in border negotiations, and the military recruitment crisis. Rubio expressed his concerns about the lack of enforcement of immigration laws under the current administration and its impact on the ongoing border crisis. He highlighted the need for President Biden to take decisive action to secure the border, stating, "He can seal the border right now. He can help reinstate Remain in Mexico, reinstate safe third country, and stop releasing single adults that are crossing the border, [but he won’t do it]."
Rubio also discussed how the immigration issue has evolved over time, pointing out the significant increase in the number of people crossing the border. He emphasized the consequences faced by communities directly affected by the influx of migrants, stating, "Right now, they’re dealing with the reality of it." Rubio underscored the importance of addressing the immigration crisis and highlighted the fact that no nation in history has willingly allowed millions of people to enter their country without proper vetting.
In addition to immigration, Rubio addressed the military recruitment crisis in an op-ed he recently wrote. He highlighted three factors contributing to the decline in recruitment numbers: negative perceptions of the military among young people, concerns about the treatment of veterans, and the prioritization of social experimentation over national security. Rubio expressed the urgent need to change these perceptions and improve the treatment of veterans to attract more individuals to serve in the military.
Rubio suggested that better support for veterans and a shift in focus towards the acquisition of applicable skills in the military could improve recruitment. He stated, "We have to fix that. We have to treat our veterans better because it’s impacting recruitment. But we also have to help people understand that there are skills that you can acquire in the military that are applicable in the real world."
As the immigration debate continues and the military faces recruitment challenges, Rubio's insights shed light on the pressing issues at hand. His call for border security and improved treatment of veterans resonates with many Americans concerned about national security and the well-being of those who serve in the military.
