On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, several city offices and facilities in Jacksonville, Florida will be closed to observe the holiday. The closures include City Hall at St. James, Ed Ball Building, Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, Yates Building, Duval County Courthouse, Supervisor of Elections main office, Animal Care and Protective Services, Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices, Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance, Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, The Ritz Theatre & Museum, and Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.
In addition to the closures, there will be no changes to garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection services. The 630-CITY Customer Service Center will be closed from Saturday, January 13th through 8 a.m. Tuesday, January 16th. Customers can still request city services online at myjax.custhelp.com.
The Jacksonville Public Library will also be closed on Monday, January 15th, but will remain open on Saturday, January 13th. Tennis Centers, except for Boone Park, will be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Boone Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bookings.
Huguenot Memorial Park will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 15th. However, park-goers are advised to check conditions before visiting, as limited beach parking plans may be implemented. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will open at 8 a.m. and close at the regular time of 6 p.m. Visitors must have early bird and annual passes for entry from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and must depart by 6 p.m. Camping reservations at the park close at 6 p.m. daily.
As the city observes Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, residents are reminded to plan accordingly and make use of alternative services or visit the facilities before or after the closure.
