Senator Rick Scott is pushing to pass the Sunshine Protection Act, which aims to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, ending the biennial clock adjustment. President Trump has expressed support for eliminating the time changes. Senator Scott recently discussed this bipartisan, bicameral legislation during a Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing.

Senator Scott, who previously signed legislation as Governor of Florida enabling the state to avoid the clock change pending federal approval, is working toward the nationwide establishment of permanent Daylight Saving Time. With 17 Senate cosponsors, the Sunshine Protection Act is also spearheaded by Congressman Vern Buchanan in the House of Representatives.
