The schedule for the fourth annual 7 Creeks Fest, taking place on March 8, has been announced by the 7 Creeks Recreation Area partners. The event offers free activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., such as guided nature hikes, birding hikes, a camping clinic, science activities, kayaking, and canoeing. These will be held across various parks within the 7 Creeks Recreation Area.
At Betz-Tiger Point Preserve's Welcome Hub, over 20 environmental exhibitors will provide educational activities alongside musical performances throughout the day. Steel Bamboo will open at 10:30 a.m., followed by Shifty Gears at 11:30 a.m., then Nan Nkama Pan-African Drum and Dance Ensemble, concluding with Fiddle Folk. A Bingo Scavenger Hunt is available for visitors to participate in.
Several guided hikes are planned with different organizations including JaxParks and Sierra Club. There will also be traditional Gullah Geechee fishing practices demonstrated by the Cosmo Historical Preservation Corporation. Kayaking and canoeing opportunities are available as well.
Guests can explore Bogey Creek Preserve independently and register for a youth fishing clinic through the event website. The Timucuan Parks Foundation is one of several organizers hosting this event to promote exploration of natural spaces.
Sponsorships are still open ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 levels. Current sponsors include Jaxport and Vystar Credit Union among others.
The festival aims to showcase Jacksonville's scenic areas which span across multiple preserves in northeast Jacksonville totaling 5,600 acres.
