The City of Jacksonville, along with its Emergency Preparedness Division, is urging residents with special medical needs to register for emergency assistance. This initiative targets individuals who rely on electricity for essential medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators and ventilators, those with mobility or functional limitations requiring evacuation help, and persons with cognitive impairments needing specialized support.

Annual renewal of registration is emphasized to maintain accurate medical and contact information, confirm eligibility for assistance, aid in coordinating transportation and sheltering needs during emergencies, and provide reassurance to individuals and their caregivers.

Captain Rickie Grace, Health and Medical Coordinator for the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division, stated: “The Special Medical Needs program is a vital resource for our community. By registering early, residents can ensure they receive the assistance they need when disaster strikes.”

Registration is free and can be completed online at JaxReady.com/SpecialMedicalNeeds or by phone at (904) 255-3172. The city advises not to delay registration until a storm approaches. More information on emergency preparedness can be found at www.JaxReady.com.
