The Emergency Preparedness Division in Jacksonville has activated the Warming Center Contingency Plan due to incoming cold weather. The plan mandates that when temperatures fall to 27 degrees or lower, the City of Jacksonville's Warming Center will open overnight for residents lacking adequate heating.
The Legends Center, located at 5130 Soutel Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32208, will serve as the warming center from Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 9 p.m. until Friday, February 21, 2025, at 9 a.m. Vulnerable individuals will be transported to the Legends Center by JTA buses. The center will be staffed and provide water on site. Residents are advised to bring an air mattress, blankets, pillows or other bedding, snacks and medication, games, toys and books, as well as hygiene and comfort items.
Additionally, all COJ Libraries and COJ Community Centers across Duval County will operate during regular business hours as warming centers. More information is available at jaxready.com/StayWarmJax.
