Senator Rick Scott recently led a press conference alongside Congressman Andy Harris, Chair of the House Freedom Caucus, and other Republican colleagues. The event focused on supporting a two-step reconciliation strategy in the 119th Congress. The first step involves passing a reconciliation bill aimed at securing the border with transformational America First legislation. The second step seeks to prevent Democratic tax increases, extend Trump Tax Cuts, and reduce government spending through reforms proposed by the new Department of Government Efficiency.

Among those present were Senators Mike Lee and Ron Johnson, along with Representatives Andy Biggs, Ralph Norman, Clay Higgins, and Scott Perry.

Earlier in the day, Senator Scott and Congressman Harris coordinated a letter signed by 26 Senate and House colleagues. This letter was addressed to Leader-Elect John Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson to express full support for the two-step reconciliation strategy.

The signatories included Senators Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, Marsha Blackburn, Ted Budd, Roger Marshall, Lindsey Graham; as well as Representatives such as Chip Roy, Lauren Boebert, Josh Brecheen, Eric Burlison, Michael Cloud, Andrew Clyde, Byron Donalds, Russ Fulcher, Bob Good; Congressman Andy Harris himself; Clay Higgins; Anna Paulina Luna; Mary Miller; Barry Moore; Ralph Norman; Andy Ogles; Scott Perry; Bill Posey; Tom Tiffany; Anna Paulina-Luna again noted separately in this list for some reason; Andy Biggs; and Keith Self.
