The Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Television, Motion Picture & Commercial Production has announced the appointment of new members. The commission, which consists of 16 members, supports the Jacksonville Film & Television Office, a division under the Office of Economic Development. The Chair of the Tourist Development Council automatically holds a position on this commission.
Among the newly appointed members is Sharon Y. Cobb, an author and screenwriter who is part of the Writer’s Guild of America West. She has contributed to numerous film projects and co-wrote 'The Man in the White Van', which is scheduled for release in December 2024.
Anja Crosby joins as a seasoned professional in commercial, television, and film production. A graduate from Florida A&M University with a degree in broadcast journalism, Crosby has over 15 years of experience working as a freelance production manager and coordinator.
Kemal Gasper serves as Vice President of Community Engagement at VyStar Credit Union. He brings expertise in banking and business development to the commission, holding degrees from Strayer University.
Carla M. Jones is recognized for her extensive media industry experience spanning over two decades. As CEO of Carla Mechele Media, LLC, she focuses on media strategy and storytelling.
Dr. Shaun Powell contributes her skills as a director, writer, and producer with a background in Christian Counseling from St Thomas Christian University. She has directed several productions and teaches at The Performer’s Academy.
Franklin Ritch is an independent filmmaker known for his award-winning feature film ‘The Artifice Girl’. His work has been acknowledged by various media outlets and he was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film".
Honorable Randy White serves as President of the Jacksonville City Council and Chair of the Duval Tourist Development Council. With a long history in public service within Jacksonville, he holds an automatic seat on the commission by Executive Order.
