In the past two years, Southwest Florida has experienced significant devastation from Hurricane Ian and Idalia. These storms have had severe impacts on local families, causing widespread destruction. However, as noted by U.S. Senator Rick Scott, "Florida is resilient." Communities have consistently come together with state and federal officials to aid in recovery efforts.

Senator Scott emphasized his commitment to ensuring that Florida families and businesses are equipped to prepare for and recover from severe weather. He highlighted his legislative efforts, including the Block Grant Assistance Act aimed at providing relief to farmers and the Hurricane Tax Relief Act designed to offer disaster-loss tax relief for affected families. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing collaboration with FEMA to support communities still recovering from Hurricanes Ian and Idalia.

"Each storm, and each hurricane season, presents its own challenges and its own lessons," Scott stated. He underscored the importance of taking every storm seriously by preparing in advance. Resources for creating a personalized emergency plan can be found in guides or at ready.gov.

Addressing current economic challenges, Scott acknowledged that many families are struggling due to inflation. He stressed the importance of early preparations for disaster readiness: "Starting preparations early allows Floridians to make purchases of vital supplies... on their own terms."

Scott urged all residents to remain vigilant against severe weather threats: "Whether you’ve lived in Florida for decades or days, we can never be complacent." He advised staying informed through local news reports like WINK News and following directives from law enforcement and emergency management officials.

"Now is the time to focus on taking care of each other and protecting our families," Scott concluded. His team remains available to assist Floridians needing help with federal agencies through his website or office contacts.
