The North Florida / South Florida Veterans Health System recently inaugurated the new Jacksonville North VA Clinic and Domiciliary in Jacksonville, Florida, reiterating their commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services to Veterans. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Apr. 23, 2024, marked the official opening of the state-of-the-art facility located at 145 Heron Bay Road.
During the ceremony, key speakers emphasized the importance of improving outcomes for Veterans. Denis McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, highlighted the facility's role in enhancing access to care for Veterans. He stated, “That’s what opening Jacksonville North is all about, improving outcomes for Veterans, increasing their access to the best care possible.”
Wende Dottor, Executive Health System Director for the NF/SG Veterans Health System, emphasized the growing demand for healthcare services among Veterans in the region. She expressed, “This new space that we are celebrating today will allow us to enhance primary care, mental health, radiology, optometry and of course supporting services.”
McDonough further reiterated the VA's commitment to providing quality care to Veterans, stating, “VA is committed to providing Vets with the care they need, where they need it, and that’s right here in North Florida/South Georgia. We’re doing this because VA care is proven to be the best, most affordable health care in America for Veterans.”
Reflecting on the significance of the event, David Isaacks, Network Director for the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, encouraged Veterans to consider VA care for their present and future healthcare needs. He assured, “But once you’re in, you have access for life, and I promise we’ll do everything in our power to serve you well and it is a pleasure to do that.”
The opening of the Jacksonville North VA Clinic and Domiciliary aligns with the VA's mission to provide comprehensive care to Veterans. McDonough praised the staff for their dedication, stating, “We have the best people, in the most Veteran-centered region, in the most Veteran-focused state, dedicated to keeping our most sacred promise—serving America’s Veterans just as well as they have served us.”
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic red ribbon cutting, signifying the official opening of the facility. Dottor expressed gratitude to all attendees, stating, “Thank you for attending today and supporting the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs in so many ways. Your dedication and service to America’s Veterans makes a difference in all of our lives.”
