WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Senator Rick Scott expressed his concerns about the impact of inflation on Florida families due to the Biden administration's economic policies.
Senator Rick Scott emphasized that the March inflation report clearly indicates the failure of "Bidenomics" in supporting Florida families. Scott highlighted the significant rise in inflation during President Biden's term, with a 19.4% increase since he took office. Scott stated, "Bidenomics is clearly failing Florida families and the March inflation report proves that’s true."
Drawing from personal experience, Senator Scott shared, "As someone who grew up in public housing and watched my mom struggle to pay the bills, I know how devastating inflation is for families like mine growing up."
Scott reiterated his commitment to advocating for fiscal reforms to address the ongoing inflation crisis, stating, "I made a promise when Floridians elected me to the Senate that I would force Washington to work for you, and I won’t stop fighting like hell to end Biden’s bad policies, deficit spending and burdensome regulation and bring fiscal sanity back to your federal government."
According to the latest CPI release, some notable price increases over the year include baby formula (+9.9%), beef (+7.6%), lettuce (+5.8%), rent (+5.7%), and sugar (+5.6%).
Since taking office as a U.S. Senator, Scott has been vocal about the need to address America's debt crisis and combat the negative effects of inflation. He has consistently urged action to tackle these economic challenges.
