Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has put forth legislation aimed at ensuring the American flag remains the primary symbol of the nation in diplomatic venues. The bill requires that any flag flown, displayed, or projected in a U.S. diplomatic mission, official residence, office, or vehicle that is not the flag of the United States must be smaller than the U.S. flag and, if raised, cannot be displayed higher than the American flag.

Rubio emphasized the significance of the bill, stating, "This bill aims to reinforce the importance of our flag, which is more than just a national emblem. Our flag is a testament to the freedoms bestowed by God upon every American citizen, and we cannot allow woke ideology to strip us of that sense of national pride. Whether in a U.S. diplomatic mission, our ambassador's residence, or an official U.S. vehicle, no flag should be flown higher than the American flag."
