City of Jacksonville Announces Christmas Closures for City Offices and Facilities

The City of Jacksonville has released a list of closures for city offices and facilities during the Christmas holiday. Starting on Saturday, December 23rd, and continuing until Wednesday, December 27th, various locations will be closed to the public.

Among the closures are City Hall at St. James, the Ed Ball Building, and the Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex. Additionally, the Duval County Courthouse, the Supervisor of Elections main office, and the Animal Care and Protective Services will also be closed.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices and the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department offices will not be open during this time. All community and senior centers and gymnasiums managed by the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department will also be closed.

Other closures include the Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, the Victim Services Center, and the Kids Hope Alliance. The Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, the Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, and the Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices will also be closed.

Citizens are advised to note the closure of the 630-CITY Call Center, which will be closed from Saturday, December 23rd until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27th. However, citizens may still request city services online at myjax.custhelp.com.

In addition to the closures of city offices and facilities, there will be changes to the garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection schedule. Customers with collection on Monday, December 25th will be serviced on Saturday, December 30th. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility will also be closed on Tuesday, December 26th, in addition to its regular Monday closure.

The Jacksonville Public Library will be closed on Monday, December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th. Tennis centers with clay courts will also be closed on Monday, December 25th, with Boone Parke reopening on Tuesday, December 26th at 9 a.m. The gates of hard courts and pickleball courts will be unlocked on both Monday and Tuesday.

For those planning to visit Huguenot Memorial Park, it will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 24th, and Monday, December 25th. However, park managers may implement limited beach parking plans in preparation for high tides or other natural occurrences. Visitors are advised to check conditions before visiting the park.

Similarly, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 24th, and Monday, December 25th. Early bird and annual passes are required for entry from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. All visitors, except for permitted campers with passes, must depart by 6 p.m.

As the Christmas holiday approaches, the City of Jacksonville ensures that its employees and facilities are given time to celebrate and spend time with their families. The closures and changes in schedules provide an opportunity for citizens to plan their activities accordingly.
