Edward Waters College Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

The most successful and memorable season of Edward Waters women's volleyball came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Bellevue in the Opening Round of the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament.

Edward Waters (24-8) could not get any consistent offense going against the home standing Bruins (24-7) on Saturday as the Lady Tigers were on their heels for a majority of the match.

As a team, Edward Waters hit .058 for the match with 23 kills, while Bellevue was .352, recording 49 kills in the match.

EWU was led by freshman Saldy Amparo Smith with seven kills, while freshman Catherine Richards, sophomore Caitlyn Willis, and junior Arielly De Souza each had four for the Lady Tigers.

Senior Katarina Ribar had 10 assists on the night with fellow senior Andrea Diaz Merced posting 10.

Defensively, Diaz Merced led Edward Waters with 14 digs, while senior Anyssa Guzman, playing in her final match of her collegiate career, had 11 for the Purple & Orange.

Edward Waters concludes this historic season setting a single season program record for wins with 24, the program's first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship, and first ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament. A majority of EWU's key pieces will return in 2022 that will prime the Lady Tigers for a deeper run to a championship next season.
