Edward Waters College Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 26.

Monday evening's straight sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-11) sweep of Allen University turned out to be a history making night for the Edward Waters women's volleyball team.

With the victory, the 2021 Lady Tigers etched their names in the history books, setting a new modern era program record for wins in a single season with 16 victories, eclipsing the previous mark of 15 wins set by the 2019 team.

Freshman Saldy Amparo Smith was EWU's leader in the match with a game-high 13 kills, followed by junior Arielly De Souza with eight, sophomore Caitlyn Willis with five, and freshman Catherine Richards with four.

Seniors Katarina Ribar and Andrea Diaz Merced got it done in the assists catagory once again with 16 and 11 assists respectively.

Senior Anyssa Guzman had seven digs in the match to lead the way for EWU, wihile Diaz Merced recorded six digs for the Purple & Orange.
