Duval County Public Schools recently issued the following announcement.
More information is now available regarding the mask mandate with a medical opt-out policy approved by the Duval County School Board on Monday, Aug. 26 during an emergency board meeting.
Families can visit www.duvalschools.org/facemask to view information on obtaining a medical opt-out form, student discipline associated with the new resolution, and updated athletic and student performance guidelines.
The emergency mask mandate is set to go into effect Tuesday, Sept. 7 for a 90-day period. According to the new policy, students must wear a face covering over both nose and mouth while inside a school or administrative facility. Students who do not follow the guidelines – and do not have a completed medical mask opt-out certification form – may be charged with a Code of Student Conduct infraction and be subject to the appropriate consequences.
