The City of Jacksonville has announced a significant new project aimed at improving the LaSalle Stormwater Collection System, with construction scheduled from 2024 to 2026. This initiative will involve the installation of new pipes and inlets to address flooding issues on LaSalle Street, particularly at the intersection with San Marco Boulevard.

April will see partial road closures, with full closures expected in May as work progresses. Partner agencies are coordinating efforts to mitigate the impact on local residents and businesses during this time.

A new pump station will be built, channeling collected stormwater through an outfall to the St. Johns River. The reconstruction of this outfall is designed to enhance stormwater capacity and improve drainage efficiency. Additionally, once the project is completed, Greenscape Park will be reconstructed.

Throughout the construction, residents can expect a phased installation approach, focusing on minimizing disruption by working street by street and block by block. Temporary removal of roadways and sidewalks will occur, with some trees potentially affected. Access to properties will be maintained, but driveway parking may be temporarily unavailable. Construction will impact traffic with certain roads closed to all but resident traffic.

All work will be conducted within the city's right-of-way, and the duration will vary by street. The city promises to notify residents in advance and provide updates through neighborhood meetings.

For further information, the public can scan a QR code on-site or visit the city's website. Inquiries unrelated to the project can be directed to 904.630.CITY (2489).
