Thanksgiving closures announced for city facilities in Jacksonville

City offices and facilities will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving. The closures affect several key locations, including City Hall at St. James, Ed Ball Building, Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, Yates Building, Duval County Courthouse, and the Supervisor of Elections main office.

Other affected offices include the Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices, all community and senior centers managed by this department, Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance (closed on Saturday), Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, The Ritz Theatre & Museum, and Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.

There will be no residential garbage collection on Thanksgiving Day. A make-up day is scheduled for Saturday.

The 630-CITY Customer Service Center will also close from Thursday through Monday morning. However, city services can still be requested online at myjax.custhelp.com.

Jacksonville Public Library branches will close early on Wednesday at 6 p.m., remain closed on Thursday and Friday but reopen on Saturday according to regular schedules.

Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) will operate limited hours for adoptions from 9 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving Day.

Most tennis centers will be closed except Boone Park which remains open during specified hours while Fort Family offers access to Pickleball and Hard courts. Southside Tennis Center is under renovation.

Huguenot Memorial Park stays open with regular hours despite road erosion issues due to river activity; visitors are advised to exercise caution as some roads have been reduced to one lane.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park opens at 8 a.m., closing as usual at 6 p.m., with special entry conditions for campers requiring prepaid reservations after certain hours. All park visitors must leave by closing time unless they are permitted campers or their guests with valid passes.
