WASHINGTON, D.C. — After President Biden expressed support for a new election in Venezuela, Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to President Biden urging the Biden-Harris administration to back the Venezuelan people's fight for democracy. He called for support of opposition leader María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia as the elected president.

Senator Scott also requested that the administration take steps to reimpose sanctions if Maduro remains in power. "It is crucial," he wrote, "to send a strong message showing U.S. solidarity with the Venezuelan people in their struggle for free and fair elections."

The full letter can be read HERE or above.
