Senator Rick Scott was recognized today as a 2024 “Hero of Main Street” by the National Retail Federation (NRF). The award, established by NRF in 2013, honors lawmakers who support the retail industry. Retail is the nation's largest private-sector employer, playing a significant role in driving the U.S. economy and creating jobs across communities. In Florida alone, retail supports over 2.3 million jobs and contributes more than $357.4 billion to economic activity.

Senator Rick Scott commented on the recognition: “Florida’s retail industry is a huge part of what drives our economy forward and I am proud to be a champion for the hardworking retail businesses across the Sunshine State that support more than 2.3 million Florida jobs. When we force Washington to focus on supporting Main Street, our communities grow stronger and more families are able to live their American dream. That’s what my fight to make Washington work for Florida families is all about, and as Florida’s U.S. Senator, I won’t stop working to advance commonsense policy that helps businesses grow, job creators thrive and local communities realize the success of small businesses that create opportunities for hardworking Americans.”

David French, NRF Executive Vice President of Government Relations, stated: “The retail industry directly impacts every congressional district in the United States, providing goods, services and American jobs. NRF is honored to recognize Senator Rick Scott as a ‘Hero of Main Street’ for their continued support of the retail industry through legislative action and leadership.”
