City announces closures for Juneteenth holiday

City offices and facilities will be closed in observance of Juneteenth on June 19, 2024. The closures include City Hall at St. James, the Ed Ball Building, the Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, and the Yates Building which houses the Office of the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser.

The Duval County Courthouse, Supervisor of Elections main office, Animal Care and Protective Services, Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices along with all community centers managed by them will also be closed. Other affected facilities include Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance, Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility (closed only on June 19), Ritz Theatre & Museum, Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.

Garbage collection services will operate as scheduled except for the Household Hazardous Waste Facility which will be closed on June 19.

The 630-CITY Customer Service Center will not be operational on June 19 but customers can request services online at myjax.custhelp.com.

All public libraries in Jacksonville will be closed on June 19.

Several city pools will remain open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with exceptions like Cecil Aquatic Center operating from 9 a.m.-noon and then from 1-6 p.m. The Southside Tennis Facility will operate from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while other tennis centers remain closed; pickleball and hard courts are accessible at Fort Family Tennis Center and Boone Tennis Center.

Huguenot Memorial Park hours are set from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., though it may close due to high tides or unsafe conditions without allowing visitors until it reopens.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will operate from 8 a.m. to its regular closing time of 8 p.m., requiring early bird passes for entry between 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., with specific check-in times for campers.
