Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released its October jobs report, indicating a loss of over 900,000 full-time jobs over the past year. The report also shows an increase of nearly 1.2 million part-time positions during the same period. In response to these figures, Senator Rick Scott issued a statement criticizing the Biden-Harris administration's economic policies.
Senator Scott commented on the findings: “Today’s report is a disturbing reality and shows the impacts of the disastrous Biden-Harris administration’s abysmal economic agenda and misplaced priorities. Nearly one million full-time jobs were lost." He expressed concern that more individuals are taking on part-time work due to economic pressures.
The senator highlighted personal experiences from his travels in Florida, sharing stories of families facing financial difficulties: "When I travel around Florida and talk to families, I hear heartbreaking stories about parents having to take on multiple jobs, folks losing their jobs, and having to go without just to scrape by."
Scott recalled his own upbringing in public housing where his parents struggled financially: "Growing up in public housing, I watched my parents work hard but still struggle to put food on the table. My mother worked multiple jobs just to make ends meet—and a lot of times, we went without."
Since joining the U.S. Senate, Scott has advocated for addressing national debt and inflation issues. He stated his commitment to opposing current policies: "The Biden-Harris agenda is a total disaster for hardworking Americans, and I’m fighting like hell to stop it & make Washington work for Florida families.”
