Senator Rick Scott expressed his concerns following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), emphasizing the need for fiscal reforms to combat the inflation crisis exacerbated by the Biden administration's policies. In response to February's CPI data, which revealed a 3.2% increase in inflation over the year, Senator Scott stated, "I heard from a woman in Orlando recently about how hard inflation is making her life. She said, ‘Not only can most of us not afford our groceries and rent we are literally choosing between paying our bills and eating.’ It’s heartbreaking."
Senator Scott highlighted the impact of inflation on families, drawing from his personal experiences, "I grew up in public housing and watched my mom make those kinds of tough choices. I don’t want anyone else to have to do that today." He criticized the proposed spending bill with 6,600 earmarks, emphasizing the importance of balancing the budget and reducing the national debt.
Regarding President Biden's priorities, Senator Scott remarked, "Unfortunately, President Biden cares more about taking care of illegal aliens and funding his Green New Deal agenda than stopping the inflation he caused." He pointed out the alarming statistics, stating, "Inflation is up 18.6% since Biden took office, and his proposed $7.3 TRILLION budget will only make things worse."
The CPI release highlighted significant price increases in various essential goods, including baby formula, beef, rent, pork, sugar, tomatoes, and juice. Senator Scott reiterated his commitment to addressing America's debt crisis and combating inflation, stressing the urgency of the situation.
Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has consistently advocated for measures to tackle inflation and the national debt crisis. For more information on his statements and actions regarding these issues, visit Senator Scott's Quarterly Economic Snapshot.
