Senator Rick Scott visited Eglin Air Force Base near Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he emphasized his commitment to supporting Florida's military installations and service members. Following a briefing with base leaders, Senator Scott spoke to the media alongside various local officials and released a statement regarding his dedication to Florida's military community.
During the media availability, Senator Scott stated, “I’m fighting for Florida’s military every day, especially here in Northwest Florida. Florida serves the mission of America’s armed forces with critical military assets." He highlighted the importance of Eglin Air Force Base in national defense efforts and praised the leadership for their contributions.
Senator Scott also reflected on his efforts in the previous year, mentioning, “In last year’s NDAA, I fought for and secured big wins for Florida’s military members and their families including a much-deserved 5.2% pay raise, support for our F-35 program and more resources, like child care, for military families." He acknowledged the challenges faced by military families, particularly in areas such as child care, and pledged to continue advocating for their needs.
Drawing from his own experience as a Navy veteran, Senator Scott expressed his admiration for the men and women serving in Northwest Florida, stating, “The men and women here in Northwest Florida that are serving our nation truly represent the best of what it means to be an American."
