U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL) have introduced a bill to rename the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in honor of Thomas H. Corey, a distinguished Vietnam veteran. Thomas Corey, a medically retired combat veteran, received numerous accolades for his service during the Vietnam War and was a well-known advocate for veterans in West Palm Beach.
According to Senator Rubio, "It is important we remember Thomas Corey’s service to our country and his unwavering support for veterans in Florida. This bill honors his sacrifice, continues his legacy, and ensures that his dedication to West Palm Beach’s veteran community is remembered for decades to come."
Senator Scott expressed his pride in joining the effort, stating, "I am proud to join Senator Rubio, Congressman Mast and the entire Florida delegation in renaming the West Palm Beach Veteran’s Affair building the 'Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center.' Mr. Corey was a beloved Vietnam veteran who sacrificed so much for our country. He devoted countless hours to serving the community of Palm Beach and veterans. It’s a great honor to rename the medical center and remember this American hero."
U.S. Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) also played a part in this initiative by introducing companion legislation in the House. The proposed renaming of the medical center serves as a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy of Thomas H. Corey and his remarkable contributions to the veteran community in West Palm Beach.
