City of Jacksonville announced the closure of several offices and facilities in observance of the New Year's holiday. The closures include City Hall at St. James, Ed Ball Building, Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, Yates Building, Duval County Courthouse, Supervisor of Elections main office, Animal Care and Protective Services, Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices, Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance, Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, The Ritz Theatre & Museum, Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.
The garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection will not be affected during this time. However, the 630-CITY Call Center will be closed from Saturday, December 30 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2. Citizens are advised to request any city services online at myjax.custhelp.com during this period.
All public libraries and tennis centers will be closed on Monday, January 1. Huguenot Memorial Park will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day, with camping facilities available. Visitors are encouraged to check conditions before visiting the park by calling (904) 255-4255 or visiting www.jaxparks.com. Similarly, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, and Monday, January 1. However, park day-users and campground visitors must enter between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and all visitors must depart by 6 p.m.
