WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Rutherford (FL-05) released the following statement on his vote on H.Res. 521, to censure and condemn Representative Adam Schiff:

“I support an investigation into Representative Adam Schiff and voted against House Democrats’ attempt to block Congress from holding him accountable to the American people. However, as a member of the House Ethics Committee, I am bound by Committee rules and fundamental due process considerations. For this reason, I joined my colleagues on the Committee in voting ‘Present’ on the underlying resolution, once it had the votes to pass, to avoid any appearance of prejudgment that would conflict with my personal involvement in an impartial and unbiased investigation. As a former law enforcement officer, I take my potential role in this investigation seriously.”
