City of Neptune Beach recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Neptune Beach is seeking candidates to fill Council Seat 5 formerly held by Vice Mayor Fred Jones. Vice Mayor Jones was first appointed in May, 2017 and ran unopposed in November 2018. His successor will be eligible to serve until the term expires in November 2022. If the chosen candidate would like to remain on City Council after November, the candidate would need to file with the City Clerk's office to officially run for City Council Seat 5. To be eligible, candidates for the appointment must be a registered voter and have been a resident of Neptune Beach for at least six months. Neptune Beach City Council members receive a $4,800 annual salary.
In addition to a letter of interest, along with a resumé, candidates for the vacant City Council seat must submit an Affidavit of Residency. The affidavit can be obtained at City Hall, 116 First Street, Neptune Beach, or by clicking the link below. All documents must be submitted to the City Clerk’s office at Neptune Beach City Hall, 116 First Street, Neptune Beach, or at clerk@nbfl.us. Any incomplete or late submittals will not be considered.
The deadline to submit letters of interest, resumés and the Affidavit of Residency is January 28, 2022. The City Council is expected to interview prospective candidates during the week of January 31st, with a decision made during the February 7, 2022, Council Meeting.
