University of North Florida Athletics issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.
North Florida volleyball's Bre Walp was dominant on the block during UNF's 3-0 weekend in Boca Raton, posting 19 blocks en route to ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office Monday, August 30.
The Ospreys defeated Wofford (3-2), FAU (3-1) and Stony Brook (3-0), winning the FAU Tournament. The middle blocker was also named to the FAU Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Walp posted eight blocks against Wofford and FAU, while notching three blocks and .333 hitting in the sweep of Stony Brook. She posted 18 kills and .325 hitting on the offensive end of things over the weekend.
Taking into account her block totals from two seasons at UT Arlington, Walp reached 300 career blocks in the match against FAU. She currently touts 303 career blocks.
It's the first ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor of Walp's career, and the first UNF middle blocker to earn the weekly award since Morgan Van Alstine in 2016.
