Columbia College recently issued the following announcement.
Columbia College Military Region 2 Director Carl David recently appointed Tara Clawson as location director at Columbia College-San Diego. In this role, Clawson is charged with maintaining the location’s visibility and reputation in the community while also overseeing the day-to-day activities of the location, including class scheduling and student and faculty recruitment.
“Since joining us earlier this year, Tara has done outstanding work managing our operations in San Diego,” said David. “She tirelessly works every day to increase the college’s presence in the community. We are ecstatic with what she’s accomplished and look forward to watching the San Diego location continue to excel under her watch.”
Clawson comes to Columbia College after spending more than five years as a student success advisor/events manager at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Florida. Prior to her tenure at St. Augustine, she served as an admissions advisor and tutor for ITT Technical Institute and USMC RSS San Antonio, respectively.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to lead Columbia College’s location in San Diego,” said Clawson. “I’m surrounded by an excellent collection of faculty and staff members. Together, we make a dedicated and passionate effort to make a positive impact in our students’ lives.”
Clawson has more than 13 years of higher education experience, specifically in instruction and advisement. She currently serves as an active member for the National Academic Advising Association and was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success.
The Vista, California, resident is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Adult Learning degree from Walden University. Clawson holds master’s degrees in English and Education, as well as a bachelor’s degree in sociology from National University.
