On January 27, 2025, Rep. Rutherford emphasized the importance of remembering the Holocaust as a reminder to resist authoritarianism and antisemitism globally. He stated: "The Holocaust should forever serve as an important reminder to stand strong against authoritarianism & antisemitism worldwide. Today, may we remember the over 6 million innocent Jewish people who were murdered & salute our WWII veterans who fought to defeat Nazism."

Later that day, he expressed support for educational choices during National School Choice Week. On January 27, 2025, he tweeted: "Students and parents need more education choices now more than ever. This National School Choice Week, I stand with parents fighting for their basic parental rights over what and where their children are taught."

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Rutherford commented on military policy changes regarding unvaccinated servicemembers discharged under President Biden's administration. He remarked: "Last Congress, I introduced the Reinstate Our Troops Act after President Biden unfairly discharged over 8,000 unvaxxed servicemembers. Proud to see President Trump right this wrong by signing an EO to finally welcome these combat-ready servicemembers back into our military."
