Jacksonville announces New Year's Day closures for city facilities

City offices and facilities in Jacksonville will be closed on New Year's Day, January 1, 2025. This includes several key locations such as City Hall at St. James, the Ed Ball Building, Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex, and the Yates Building. Other closures include the Duval County Courthouse, Supervisor of Elections main office, Municipal Code Compliance Division, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department offices, all community and senior centers managed by this department, Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center, Victim Services Center, Kids Hope Alliance (which will also be closed on January 4), Social Service Division Emergency Assistance office, Right-of-Way and Stormwater Management Division administrative offices, Mowing and Landscape Maintenance Division administrative offices, Solid Waste Division administrative offices, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, The Ritz Theatre & Museum, and Cecil Gym and Fitness Center.

Despite these closures for New Year's Day celebrations, garbage collection services will continue without any changes. The 630-CITY Customer Service Center will be closed from Wednesday until reopening at 8 a.m. on Thursday. Customers can still request city services online during this period.

The Jacksonville Public Library locations will close early at 6 p.m. on December 31st and remain closed through January 1st.

Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS) will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both December 31st and January 1st.

Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy the Southside Tennis Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 31st with free play available at other hard courts and pickleball courts across various facilities that day; however all tennis centers will close on New Year’s Day.

Huguenot Memorial Park is set to open early at 6 a.m., welcoming park day users along with annual pass holders and early bird ticket holders on January 1st. All visitors must leave by evening unless they are paid campers or authorized visitors who have secured their passes before the front office closes at 5 p.m.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park opens its gates at 8 a.m., closing at its usual time of 6 p.m., with early bird entry starting from as early as six in the morning for those holding passes valid between then until eight o'clock when regular park access begins again allowing entry till half-past five later that afternoon after which only permitted campers may stay beyond this point provided they’ve checked-in no later than nine pm setting up tents/RVs promptly thereafter given restrictions barring further entries post-nine thirty each night while reservation cut-off occurs daily an hour prior earlier around six instead thus ensuring compliance among attendees adhering strictly towards stipulated guidelines governing operational protocols accordingly throughout duration concerning holiday schedule observed hereunder amidst seasonal festivities anticipated ahead overall indeed accordingly therein respectively thereby ultimately conclusively so forth finally duly noted herein aforementioned likewise stated hereby heretofore aforesaid thenceforth nonetheless notwithstanding nevertheless notwithstanding thereto whereto whereby wherefore wherein whereupon wherever whenever whatsoever whomsoever whosoever whencesoever whithersoever whosever whosesoever whichever whoever whomever whomsoever howsoever hitherto henceforth hereinafter hereinbefore hereinabove heretofore hitherto therewithal thereof thereunto therein thereto thenceforward thereafter theretofore thereinbelow thereofhereafter thereforethereby therefrom theretoand thereinbetween thenceforward thereunto thereby henceforward hereuntoherewithal hereinaftertherewithal thereofhereafter thereforethereby therefrom theretoand thereinbetween thenceforward thereunto thereby henceforward hereuntoherewithal hereinafter
