Senator Rick Scott has announced his support for the Social Security Fairness Act, highlighting the importance of ensuring full Social Security benefits for public sector employees such as police officers, firefighters, and teachers. In a statement released today, Senator Scott emphasized the need to rectify what he described as a longstanding injustice faced by these workers.

"I cosponsored and voted today to advance the Social Security Fairness Act because hardworking folks like police, firefighters and teachers who pay into Social Security ought to receive full Social Security benefits in retirement," said Senator Scott. He criticized the historical denial of full benefits to first responders and other public sector employees, calling it "shameful."

While expressing satisfaction with the progress of the bill, Senator Scott also pointed out concerns regarding the future of the Social Security Trust Fund. He noted its "major issues and looming insolvency" as areas that require attention. Furthermore, he expressed his intention to collaborate with President Trump on safeguarding Social Security.

In addition to addressing Social Security issues, Senator Scott mentioned plans to work alongside Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy at the Department of Government Efficiency. The goal is to identify $200 billion in government waste to fund this policy responsibly. He highlighted deficit spending as a critical issue affecting inflation and American families.

"We must end it while working to pass responsible policy like my Protect Our Seniors Act that protects and preserves critical programs like Social Security," concluded Senator Scott.
