Rep. John Rutherford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 5th district since 2017, recently shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. The congressman, who replaced Ander Crenshaw and has a background in law enforcement and politics, addressed topics ranging from international hostages to national defense policies.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Rutherford tweeted about his meeting with families of three Israeli and American hostages taken by Hamas. He stated that these families have been waiting for 432 days for their loved ones' return. Expressing alignment with former President Trump, he warned that "if hostages are not released by January 20th, there will be hell to pay." "Today, I met with the families of 3 Israeli & American hostages taken by Hamas."

Later that day, at approximately 21:43 UTC, Rutherford posted another tweet urging the immediate return of the hostages Keith Seigel, Karina Ariev, and Naama Levi. "Bring Keith Seigel, Karina Ariev, and Naama Levi home NOW."

In a subsequent tweet at 21:45 UTC on December 11th, Rep. Rutherford expressed pride in voting in favor of this year's defense bill aimed at supporting servicemembers and protecting national security. He highlighted key provisions such as a pay increase for junior enlisted servicemembers by 14.5%, banning CRT in the military, prohibiting puberty blockers for children, and authorizing Department of Defense resources at the border."Proud to vote YES on this year's defense bill that supports our servicemembers & protects our national security."
