Republican senators reaffirm support for Israel on anniversary of Hamas attacks

One year after the terrorist attacks by Iran-backed Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of Americans and other atrocities, Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Joni Ernst and their Senate Republican colleagues to condemn the group and support Israel. The Republican senators issued a resolution that calls for the safe release of American hostages and opposes antisemitic violence.

Senator Rick Scott stated, "It has been one year since Iran-backed Hamas terrorists attacked Israel... We must stand with all of those impacted by the heinous attack." Senator Joni Ernst expressed her commitment to supporting Israel, saying, "I immediately traveled into Israel to show that our nation’s friendship is unwavering."

Other senators also voiced their support. Senator John Thune said, "The United States stands with Israel... as it defends itself against terrorist entities." Senator John Barrasso added, "Our nation must provide unwavering support to Israel’s mission to defend itself and defeat Hamas."

The resolution underscores the importance of standing with Israel against terrorism. Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Steve Daines, Jim Risch, Roger Wicker, Chuck Grassley, Ted Budd, Bill Cassidy, Mike Rounds, Markwayne Mullin, Jerry Moran, John Cornyn, Katie Britt, Cynthia Lummis, Pete Ricketts, John Hoeven, James Lankford, Mike Crapo, Cindy Hyde-Smith emphasized solidarity with Israel.

Senator Marco Rubio highlighted America's moral duty to defend national security interests alongside Israel. Other senators such as Kevin Cramer and Marsha Blackburn reiterated their support for Israeli efforts to rescue hostages held by Hamas.

Senator Lindsey Graham called the attack a crime against civilization. Meanwhile, Susan Collins urged her colleagues to stand against antisemitic acts. Tim Scott reaffirmed loyalty to allies like Israel.

Senators Roger Marshall and Todd Young focused on condemning Hamas's actions and supporting democracy in the region. Rand Paul stressed that the United States would continue backing Israel in its fight against terrorism.

The resolution represents a unified stance from Senate Republicans in defense of Israel's right to self-defense amid ongoing threats from Iranian-backed groups.
