Since Fidel Castro took power in Cuba, the regime has offered a safe haven to criminal fugitives seeking to escape justice. Currently, there are at least 90 fugitives receiving safe harbor in Cuba. From convicted felon Joanne Chesimard to William “Guillermo” Morales, the Cuban dictatorship is protecting individuals charged with terrorism, hijacking, kidnapping, drug offenses, and murder.
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced the Trooper Werner Foerster and Frank Connor Justice Act which demands the immediate extradition of all fugitives presently in Cuba who are avoiding prosecution and imprisonment for their criminal offenses committed in the U.S.
“For years, the illegitimate Castro/Diaz-Canel regime has provided safe haven to criminals who have committed vicious crimes against Americans. The U.S. cannot turn a blind eye on the reality that 90 miles away from its shores, the Cuban dictatorship is protecting individuals who have committed heinous acts against our citizens and the administration continues to do nothing about it,” stated Senator Rubio.
