City of Jacksonville Responds to Baltimore Key Bridge Collapse

The City of Jacksonville has expressed solidarity with Baltimore following the tragic Key Bridge collapse. An unnamed spokesperson conveyed, "We are saddened by the situation in Baltimore and are praying for their community. I have been in contact with JAXPORT CEO Eric Green to discuss the maritime impacts as they continue to evolve."

Concerns have arisen regarding the safety measures in place to protect infrastructure in Jacksonville. The spokesperson highlighted the precautions taken at the Dames Point Bridge, emphasizing the presence of protective structures known as "dolphins" and specialized sensors called Air Gap sensors to monitor the bridge's integrity.

The spokesperson further stated, "The City of Jacksonville and our partner agencies always stand ready to help our sister communities during their time of need. Our City and port community stands with the people of Baltimore."
