WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Rick Scott and his wife, Mrs. Ann Scott, have announced their decision to donate a portion of his 4th quarter Senate salary to the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center in Naples, Florida. The donation is part of their ongoing commitment to support organizations that promote education and combat bigotry and hatred.
The Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center is dedicated to teaching the lessons of the Holocaust and inspiring action against prejudice and violence. The center offers educational programs for middle and high school students in Southwest Florida, as well as the wider community. Senator Scott has previously made donations to The Florida Holocaust Museum and the Jewish Federations of North America.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to support the Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center, Senator Rick Scott said, "Ann and I are grateful for the opportunity to support the Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center in our hometown of Naples. This important organization reaches thousands of students and visitors every year, and is a staple in the Southwest Florida community."
Senator Scott further shared a personal experience, stating, "I remember when Ann and I brought our daughters to the Auschwitz memorial and museum in Poland. We spent two days walking the grounds, learning and confronting the horrors that occurred there – and understanding the meaning of the promise 'never again.' The Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center is committed to shining a light on these horrors, and ensuring students learn the history of the Holocaust and see for themselves why antisemitism is disgusting, evil and has no place in our society."
Susan Suarez, President and CEO of the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center, expressed her gratitude for the support from Senator Scott and Mrs. Scott. She highlighted the origins of the Museum, which began as a classroom exhibit created by students and teachers over twenty years ago. Suarez emphasized the importance of sharing the lessons of the Holocaust and stated, "We're so grateful for the Senator's support of our efforts and commitment to shine a light on antisemitism and all forms of prejudice and hatred."
Senator Rick Scott has been donating his Senate salary since taking office in 2019, consistently demonstrating his dedication to supporting worthy causes and organizations. The donation to the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center in Naples is a testament to his commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and educating future generations about the importance of standing against hatred and bigotry.
The generosity of Senator Scott and Mrs. Scott will enable the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center to continue its vital work in educating students and the public, and promoting a society free from prejudice and hatred. Their contribution will help ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten and the commitment to "never again" remains steadfast.
