The Edward Waters men's volleyball team took a step out of conference play on Wednesday evening with revenge firmly on their minds as the Purple & Orange traveled to face Warner University. The Tigers were able to continue their dominant play as of late, earning a 3-0 victory over the Royals and avenging their 3-1 loss back on March 1st in Jacksonville.
Edward Waters (11-4, 7-0 SIAC) came firing out of the gates in the contest, hitting .390 as a team in the match on 42 kills, while holding Warner (15-6, 10-0 AAC) to .200 on 36 kills. The Tiger defense was phenomenal in the match as well with 11 total blocks and 37 digs to aid their cause in the victory as well.
Leading the way for the Tigers was redshirt freshman Bryan Pepen who came away one dig short of a double-double with a match high 17 kills and nine digs. Kaelen Ingram finished just behind with 11 kills and seven blocks, while Evens Edouard wrapped up his night with nine kills and two blocks. Joelvi Jimenez led the way defensively for EWU with eight total blocks in the contest, while Jhoan Capellan finished with a match high 36 assists in the matchup.
Edward Waters now turns their attention to the biggest contest of the season thus far as they will head to Wilberforce, Ohio to battle defending SIAC champion Central State. First serve is set for Friday at 6:00pm.
