District recognized for excellence in telling its financial story
Duval County Public Schools is receiving high honors for its excellence in financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the district this month from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
The award is in recognition of the district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending in June, 30, 2021.
This annual report – which provides an exhaustive overview of the district’s financial story for that fiscal year – was judged by an impartial panel and found to have demonstrated a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate readers to fully read the report.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” wrote Michele Mark Levine, GFOA Director of Technical Services in her award letter to the district. “We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”
The district also received this distinction for its report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020. Visit the district’s website to view a full listing of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports.
