The University of North Florida’s Military and Veterans Resource will host its annual Veterans Day Tribute breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Veterans Plaza. The UNF Green will also be decorated for the week with 1,500 American flags representing the military-connected student population at UNF.
UNF President Moez Limayem will give opening remarks followed by a speech from Capt. Valerie Morrison, USN, Ret., and UNF's director of Student Health Services. Dr. Morrison is a 1991 graduate of the UNF nursing program and had a distinguished 30-year career in the US Navy, including service as Chief Nursing Officer at Walter Reed National Military Center. Morrison is a board-certified advanced nurse executive and a senior certified professional in human resources management.
This annual event honors and recognizes military-connected students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members who have served or are still serving in the military. The ceremony will include a performance by the Navy Band Southeast, and UNF ROTC Color Guard will present the colors.
