The University of North Florida teamed up with First Coast News to bring the Baptist MD Anderson's Mobile Mammography unit, the “Buddy Bus,” to UNF’s Employee Benefits Fair today on National Mammography Day. Beloved First Coast News anchor Jeannie Blaylock stopped by to greet the participants and talk about the importance of breast cancer screening with School of Nursing faculty and students.
National Mammography Day is observed annually on the third Friday in October as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Buddy Bus provides 3D breast cancer detection screening services to Northeast Florida communities in a convenient and comfortable mobile unit. The bus is staffed with board-certified technologists to perform the exams and dedicated breast radiologists read the exams.
The School of Nursing has a proud history of over a decade of support in partnering with First Coast News to promote breast cancer awareness and the Buddy Check program.
