University of North Florida recently issued the following announcement.
The University of North Florida has been designated as one of the most military-friendly schools in the nation by Military Friendly for the 13th consecutive year. The University is honored with the gold recognition status for showing exemplary commitment and dedication to military students.
The 2022-23 Military Friendly Schools list honors educational institutions nationwide that are doing the most to embrace the nation’s military students and dedicate resources to ensure success both in the classroom and after graduation. The list sets the standard for higher education institutions and encourages commitment to providing the best opportunities for veterans and their families.
“This distinguished national recognition confirms UNF’s proud commitment to serving our veterans and military-affiliated students,” said Bob Buehn, UNF’s Military and Veterans Resource Center director.
Using VA education benefits, UNF’s veteran population has grown an average of 6% per year and is currently comprised of more than 1,400 veterans or military-affiliated students, representing over 8% of the University’s student body.
The Military Friendly Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide. Schools receive award recognition in gold, silver and bronze categories. The ratings are measured by each institution's ability to meet and exceed thresholds for retention, graduation, job placement, repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for all students and specifically, for student veterans.
UNF’s MVRC is committed to ensuring that military-affiliated students successfully transition from the military environment to campus life and assist in their goal of graduation. The MVRC also serves as a resource to veteran employees, providing guidance and referrals to assist with integration into the UNF community. Learn more at https://www.unf.edu/military-veterans/.
