UNF music students perform for Mayo Clinic patients and staff

4

University of North Florida recently issued the following announcement.

Bringing musical joy to patients and healthcare workers during these hard pandemic times is the goal of Kaitlynn Tobias, a University of North Florida music education master’s

student who specializes in flute and piano. Tobias was inspired to say thank you to our healthcare heroes and inspire patients at Mayo Clinic by sharing the healing gift of music.

She organized a group of percussion and string School of Music student volunteers to visit the hospital and play outside in the courtyard numerous times throughout the semester

for the enjoyment of the employees and patients. The opportunity will open to students from all music majors in the spring. Tobias is also working with the Mayo Clinic technology

team to begin live-streaming School of Music concerts and recitals directly into the patients' rooms in the future.
