University of North Florida issued the following announcement on Nov. 16.
North Florida softball announces its conference schedule for the 2022 season that kicks off Saturday, Mar. 12, against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Ospreys will play eight ASUN opponents, each in a three-game series, for a total of 24 conference games this season. They will travel for four conference matchups that include three in-state road trips.
Every team North Florida be hosting within the conference will be against teams outside the state of Florida. The Ospreys will also be playing Jacksonville State and Central Arkansas for the first time as ASUN opponents since they joined the conference this year.
Opponent Breakdown
UNF opens its spring season in ASUN play on the road against Florida Gulf Coast on Mar. 12-13, as they will look to win their third consecutive conference-opening series. The following weekend, the Ospreys will return home to host their first conference homestand of the season against Lipscomb from Mar. 19-20.
Their next road series takes place on Mar. 26-27, when they face new ASUN opponent Jacksonville State in their first matchup since 2015. Central Arkansas will come to town in another debut conference series on Apr. 2-3, in what will be their first matchup since 2011.
The Ospreys will then head across town to play Jacksonville on Apr. 9-10, to try and take a third-straight series against the Dolphins in the River City Rumble. They will play the next weekend at home against Kennesaw State on Apr. 15-16, in their first conference matchup since 2019.
Their final road stint will be against in-state rival Stetson on Apr. 23-24, in an attempt to win their sixth-straight series against the Hatters. Their home finale will take place from Apr. 30-May 1, when they face Liberty for the second time as an ASUN opponent.
The ASUN Tournament has also been set to be played at Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. from May 10-14. The Ospreys will have a bye week after their series against Liberty to prepare for the conference tournament.
